The Collaboration of Developing Artists will host its last creative markets of the year from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 4 and Monday, October 11, in the parking lot it has transformed into a weekly open-air art market. at 19826. Central Street, Rehoboth Beach.
Sussex County Council recently unanimously approved permission for the collaboration to have full access to the site from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week in 2022. Creative Market features all artists and craft businesses as well as live music, food trucks, do-it-yourself art projects and a creative cocktail bar.
The collaboration launched the Creative Marketplace, officially on Monday Unmetered Mondays, in the parking lots of Egg and Rehoboth Ale House in downtown Rehoboth in the summer of 2020 in response to the pandemic. Almost all local opportunities for artists were canceled in 2020 due to COVID, but DAC has made it a priority to keep artists connected to audiences safely in an open-air market so their businesses can survive. As COVID restrictions were lifted in 2021, organizers decided to continue the event in West Rehoboth.
In the spring of 2021, they hosted Creative Market West Rehoboth on Monday evening in a lot adjacent to Tomato Sunshine and Ocean Boulevard Furniture, near Revelation Brewery. The event has grown into a weekly destination for locals and tourists alike to enjoy an innovative art market serving hundreds of guests and providing opportunities for over 100 different local artists, musicians and craft businesses.
“Organizing a weekly event for our community has been a dream for our organization, and while we would love to continue Creative Market during the fall and the holidays, we know we need to focus our attention on our artists for the rest of the year. Said Leah Beach, Founder and Executive Director of DAC. “We’re having our biggest fundraiser of the year, Tacomania, at the Big Chill Beach Club on October 13, and our 7th Dewey Sip and Shop Black Friday at Dewey Beach on Dagsworthy Street. Since Creative Market is in its first year , we wanted to go out in style rather than spreading ourselves out and spreading ourselves and our artists too much by organizing too many events. “
The weekly event will be kicking off again starting Memorial Day weekend 2022 with the unveiling of the DAC’s West Rehoboth mural project, which will honor the story of West Rehoboth.
“As we now have full access to this bundle seven days a week, we plan to have the Creative Market on Mondays in 2022 as well as Shakespeare Theater, comedy nights, movie nights and more. We are open to all partner organizations. or people looking to organize private events, ”Beach said.
