Preparations have started as Love Southsea Market is set to return again on Saturday April 17 at Palmerston Road.
Lulu Whitmore, owner and manager of Love Southsea, said the market takes pride in supporting the local community.
Lulu, 49, said: “I have definitely missed people the most – all traders and businesses are great, if you want to start a business in Portsmouth we will support them, buy local and keep the pound. Pumped up to create that sense of community.
“Love Southsea is a local market for locals where we welcome everyone.
40 years of service attendant dedication rewarded with awards
“You can be a creator; trader and you don’t need to have made your own goods to trade here.
“We have delicious street food; everyone always helps each other out – it’s just such a fun place and a happy vibe. ‘
Love Southsea works closely with Express FM and the Coastguard Bar in Southsea.
The market intends to use these close ties to bring a unique market experience by incorporating live music.
Lulu said many people got more creative during the lockdown and explored other ways to earn income – and new faces will come to the market.
Lulu said, “Throughout the lockdown, amazing new traders have shown interest.
“It’s amazing what people do because they just got home and have more free time.”
The market is in its 11th year and Lulu said she hopes it will continue to grow for many more to come.
The next market will see its layout remain the same as the previous markets, and after opening, the market will resume its usual schedule of the first weekend of each month, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
